Frequently asked questions

Every question we hear from students, answered honestly in one place. Can't find yours? Our Yoga program counsellor answers on WhatsApp within a day.

Courses & eligibility

It comes down to one question: do you already hold a 200 Hr Yoga Alliance certificate? If not, begin with the 200 Hr — or the 500 Hr if you can commit 7 weeks. If yes, the 300 Hr advances you to RYT 500 eligibility.

No. The 200 Hr and 500 Hr accept complete beginners; faculty adapt practice to your level from day one. Only the 300 Hr has a prerequisite: a 200 Hr certificate from any Yoga Alliance registered school.

Yes — both names describe the same education. The internationally recognised standard is the Yoga Alliance framework: 200-hour foundation, 300-hour advanced, or both combined as 500 hours.

Genuinely intense: 7–8 hours of training daily, six days a week, with a 5:30 wake-up. This is a residential education, not a holiday — students consistently call the discipline the most transformative part.

A retreat is a short residential program (3–14 days, start any day) focused on practice and rest. Teacher training is a certification-track course with fixed intakes. Many students do a retreat first and return for the 200 Hr.

Booking, fees & deposits

Choose your course and intake, then reserve with the deposit — $400 for the 200 Hr and 300 Hr, $800 for the 500 Hr, and program-specific deposits for retreats. The balance is payable when your course begins.

Deposits are non-refundable, but validity is generous: 200 Hr deposits stay valid for one year, and validity can be extended in special circumstances case-by-case. Retreat deposits stay valid 6 months with at least 10 days notice.

Everything residential: your room (twin shared or private), all vegetarian meals, curriculum materials, yoga mat and props, and arrival logistics coordination.

We run a standby scholarship program: last-minute places at a significantly reduced fee for students who can travel flexibly. See the Scholarships page for how it works.

Deposits are paid online; balances are payable on arrival. Card payments may incur a small bank fee (2% on retreat programs). Ask our Yoga program counsellor about current payment options.

Travel, visas & arrival

Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (DED) is the nearest — about an hour from the trailhead. Most students connect via Delhi. We coordinate your arrival logistics when you register.

A standard tourist visa covers all our courses and retreats. Apply online (fastest) or through your embassy; allow one week to a month for the outcome.

Taxi to the trailhead, then a 40-minute forest walk up — there is no vehicle access, by design. Porters carry your luggage: one porter per student, up to 15–18 kg.

One day before your course start date. We will confirm your arrival plan, pickup options and the climb details before you fly.

Life at the ashram

Most of our students are solo women travellers. The ashram is a private, staffed campus with resident faculty available around the clock — and safety is the single most repeated theme in our reviews.

Private and twin-shared cottage-style rooms with attached bathrooms and 24/7 hot and cold water, set in the forest campus.

There is Wi-Fi, but we advocate a digital detox — and the course schedule leaves little room for remote work. Treat your training as the full-time education it is.

Modest attire that honours the tradition: sleeved tops and full-length bottoms for classes.

Sundays are open schedule: the Patna waterfall walk, Rishikesh town, the Ganga Aarti, Lakshman Jhula — or simply rest.

Food & health

Three fresh sattvic vegetarian meals daily from our in-house kitchen — consistently the most-praised line in our reviews. Vegan and gluten-free diets are catered every day.

In most cases, yes — tell our Yoga program counsellor before enrolling. Faculty adapt practice to injuries and conditions, and the kitchen plans around dietary and medical needs from day one.

An Ayurveda doctor is resident at the ashram, and conventional medical facilities are available in Rishikesh. Share medications and conditions at registration so we can plan safely.

Certification

Yes. Our courses follow Yoga Alliance standards recognised worldwide: RYT 200 after the 200 Hr; RYT 500 eligibility after the 300 Hr or the combined 500 Hr.

RYT = Registered Yoga Teacher (you, after graduating and registering). RYS = Registered Yoga School (us). E-RYT = Experienced RYT, earned later through 1,000+ teaching hours over 2+ years.

An academic Certificate in Yoga from a central government university of India, available through our extension-centre program at an additional cost — alongside, not instead of, your Yoga Alliance credential.

Written and practical assessments, your conduct throughout the training, and a minimum 90% attendance.
